The 2080s were a period of war and unrest on Earth. National and terrorist entities rose and fell rapidly, and regional populations suffered famine, disease, and all the horrors of continual war. In 2093 a federation of nations and national coalitions signed the Preservation Pact, which allied the nations of the world against terrorists, revolutionaries and imperial corporations. This paved the way for the creation of the Earth Republic in 2101. Since that time the Earth Republic has been the sovereign political power on Earth, with mega-corporations being a distant second.

More vertical farms are implemented in Rio de Janeiro and Beijing, Seattle and San Francisco build their first vertical farms to supply produce to urban consumers.
2025	Superstorm Ariel strikes Cuba, Florida and continues up the East Coast to Maine and into Canada. Storm claims 319 lives and does a total of 18.7 billion dollars in damage.		Superstorm Ariel does 18.7 billion dollars in damage in Cuba and the Eastern US.
2026	Bio-fuels produced from grass clippings and yard waste becomes a viable alternative to home heating oil. The main supplier is Tecco fuels, a founding Maxicorp company.		Tecco Fuels perfects bio-fuel (“HARTH OIL”) which can replace home heating oil.
	UNEO issues mandatory regulations concerning energy efficiency and gray water reclamation for all new construction.
2027	Ecolight Project in London, integrates street designs which tap into the natural electrical power generated by trees, the action of rainwater and wind to power street lights and traffic signals. New environmentally friendly materials used for roads and sidewalks.		UNEO issues mandatory regulations concerning energy efficiency and gray water reclamation for all new construction of buildings.
2028	Severe drought in the Amazon Basin, millions of acres of rainforest are at risk from fires burning out of control. Increase in seismic activity in the Yellowstone basin. Volcanic gasses and increases in temperature of geysers prompt scientists to issue a false alarm that an eruption of the caldera is imminent.		Laws are passed by several African and South African countries allowing the use of armed drones to deter poaching. Signs are posted in multiple languages warning poachers they could be shot if a drone finds them in the vicinity of a dead animal.
2029	Melting polar ice has raised the sea level by 2.5 centimeters. Severe weather events become more common.		Tecco Fuels creates a bio-fuel which can replace all petroleum fuels. (“Omnifuel”)
2030	Rising global temperatures leads to ice-free arctic waters in summer months.		Several Northern European countries pass laws to mandate that all new construction be designed to be “self-sustaining” for homes as well as commercial and retail buildings.
2031	Armed Robotic drones deploy in Africa to deter poachers. Sea-going robotic drones deploy to sort and transport tons of trash in the Pacific ocean and take it to converted fishing trawlers for recycling.	Second War of African Unification begins.	Tecco Fuels is unable to keep up with demand and other companies begin producing bio-fuels. (MEAD, NeuBenzin, and Miraigasu 未来ガ)
2032	Sea level rises another 7 centimeters. Oceans have extensive “dead” zones where the oxygen is too low for most forms of life.	The Committee executes a non-sanctioned, non-corporate, non-governmental attack on terrorists using remote control drones and other tech.	Electronic transfer of payment from a mobile device or “smart card” becomes main way consumers pay for goods and services. To cut costs and increase security most retail stores do not accept cash. Consumers without credit or bank accounts can purchase “smart cards” at automated kiosks and load them with cash to purchase food or retail goods.
2033	Drought in California’s central valley causes produce prices to rise.		Tecco Fuels buys several former petroleum producing companies and converts the refineries to producing bio-fuel. Tecco Fuels becomes the major producer of bio-fuels.
2034	A heatwave in Cairo, Egypt causes temperatures to rise above 110 degrees for 12 straight days. The temperature of 139 degrees is recorded on the third day of the heat wave. Hundreds die and thousands are treated for the effects of the heat.	The Committee air-drops ‘care packages’ of food, medicine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and web-casts people receiving it.	Some U.S. companies respond to the California drought by building high-tech vertical farms. The VIAND Corporation rises to global prominence.
2035	Persistent drought on the West coast of the United states leads to Dust Bowl-like conditions in the California Central Valley in September of that year. Crops and livestock smother from the fine flour-like dust. Thousands displaced.	Starweb News Agency reports on 2,200 distinct terror groups.	Ardwallia Stores offers the first on-demand printing of variety of household goods, clothing and shoes. The process allows consumers to choose materials, color and customize many other design features of thousands of products.  Many other retailers follow this model or go out of business. Dust bowl conditions in California’s central valley lead to a sharp rise in the price of produce in the United States. There are shortages of fresh produce in many towns and cities.
2036	Plastics that sequester carbon in the manufacturing process become commercially viable. Companies cease using petroleum based plastics.	The Committee air-drops ‘care packages’ of food and money into 11 rural towns in Kentucky, and web-casts people opening them.	QiKY Corporation creates the first “Everything” printer for the home which can print a variety of household goods.	Starweb communication technology enables easy communication between any two points on the globe, instantly.
2037	France becomes the first nation to require all cars to be powered with alternative fuel sources. Canada, Italy and the UK are soon to follow.	17 aerial drones simultaneously assault HSBC bank executives with a noxious aerosol, spraying their persons, vehicles and interior of their homes as well. The Committee takes credit.	Home printing becomes wildly popular. Consumers buy raw material cartridges and download customizing software from retailers instead of finished goods. Retailers stock raw material cartridges or one of kind objects or create sample items to market customizing software.	World Space Commission Established.
2038	Conversion of the Mir diamond mine in Mirsky Russia to an underground, sustainable community.		Jobs in the new home printing industry increase openings for visual designers and programmers, but hundreds of thousands are without gainful employment in North America and the EU.	First fully integrated cybernetic limb developed in the United States.
2039	Detroit and Cleveland become model cities for the new Biophilic movement. Abandoned neighborhoods become parks, farms and any new construction conforms to the UNEO mandates.	TIME person of the year is ‘The Committee’.	The Biophilic Movement begins in Detroit and Cleveland in the United States. The biophilic movement also gains ground in China and Japan. Collapse of the retail industry leaves millions without jobs as retail companies struggle to adapt to the new consumer market. Major retailers go bankrupt or merge with other companies. Ardwallia buys the brand names of several former retailers.
2040			Nearly all retail companies have shifted their products to raw material cartridges and exclusive customizing programs. The retail locations have samples of the thousands of available items and a very few sales clerks who act as style consultants for customers.
2041		35 aerial drones engage and largely neutralize a police Riot-Control Robotics Unit in Seattle, WA. No one takes credit, but the Committee is assumed responsible.	The Japanese thrash metal band, Space Elevator releases its self-titled album. An actual space elevator begins construction on Hashima island in Japan.
2042					Governments in the US and EU institute guaranteed jobs upon graduation of college, but supply of jobs cannot keep up with demand.
2043		A lengthy investigation brings five Committee programmers to trial. They are convicted of conspiracy, racketeering and many other charges.
2044			Vertical farms become even more economically viable with subsidies from governments in North America and the EU. Hundreds of jobs are created, but still more are needed. RoboFarm, INGrow and Bluesky Green become industry leaders.
2045		‘Terrorarchist’ groups shape policy by threatening local leaders and communities with violence unless specific actions are taken.	The Japanese thrash metal band Space Elevator teams up with the Canadian boy band Youth Resource for a concert aboard the newly completed Hashima Levitator which is broadcasted worldwide. There is an accident at 12,000 feet and the lead singer of Youth Resource and five members of Space Elevator lose their lives along with 14 other passengers. Dozens are injured and the levitator “train” is stuck at 12.000 feet for seven hours until conditions allow for the rescue of the trapped passengers.
2046		73 recorded ‘Terrorarchist’ attacks against schools, malls, and other gathering places in the United States. Other nations report a proportional number of attacks.
2047	Shameat, Lab grown meat, becomes commercially viable and gradually replaces meat derived from animal sources.
2050	UNEO assigned broad authority to reduce carbon-emissions. Non signatories threatened with sanctions and other penalties.	Police agencies proliferate throughout the United States and Europe.	Restrictions on ‘Starweb’ communications are put in place to prevent Terrorarchists from communicating between cells. The first “carbon scrubber” devices are developed by ARC Robotics.  ARC Robotics makes the schematics available for free. CNSA Lunar Camp conducts mining of rare earths.	China National Space Administration establishes permanent lunar ‘camp’ in Aristarchus Ray Crater.
2051			Dozens of companies begin developing “carbon scrubber” devices from leaked schematics.
2052	Atmospheric Carbon Scrubber perfected.
2053				Mahendra Drive developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation. Cooperates with WSC to develop the technology.
2054	Atmospheric Carbon Scrubbers are deployed worldwide and CO2 levels plateau.	Twenty-five Committee-related prosecutions cause a chilling effect, and the organization becomes less active.			Dispute between the United States and China over lunar territory is resolved via lengthy direct talks.
2055	Techniques for lab grown meat are perfected allowing hospitals to grow replacement organs from the recipients own cells allowing full integration of the replacement part. Organ and limb rejection become a thing of the past.	Third War of African Unification begins.	The CGD or continuous graviton drive (a forerunner of the stellar drive) is developed by Universal Engineering and LK Propulsion Systems. Contracting with multiple governments around the world, ARC robotics installs “Carbon scrubbing” on drones and deploys them in the atmosphere. Carbon levels plateau over the next five years.	First Contact with Cetian spacecraft, in the Sol system, by WSC astronauts. (Not near Earth.)
2056		The Committee issues a declaration of rights, indicating that it intends to continue to fight for ‘The People’ from the shadows.
2062			Najwa Clark founds the Aladura Ashari religious movement in Central Africa.

2065	A method is perfected to keep humans in “suspended animation” for months, if not years.		SafeCorp, a small international security agency, is founded. Cryogenic technology advances to the point that a healthy human can be cryogenically put into “suspended animation” for up to three months. The technique is perfected by AnabioSys Inc.  The company also claims to be working on a technique to revive whole bodies which were cryogenically frozen in the late 20th and early 21st century.	WSC completes the first Orbital Construction Yard, which is capable of building ships and other structures in space.

2067			There are leaks, exposés and rumors about the Cetians, despite the silence of most government leaders.	The Cetians begin scientific exchange with the WSC.	WSC presents proof of the existence of the Cetians to world leaders, who decline to make a general announcement of this.
2068	CO2 levels begin to approach the levels in the early 21st century. The Polar Vortex phenomenon disappears. Average global temperatures fall back to normal levels. Sea ice in the Arctic resumes in the winter months.		A man claiming to be the famous cryogenically frozen baseball player Ted Williams tours the United States, but The Massachusetts General Hospital disputes his claim by revealing they are currently in partnership with AnabioSys Inc.. and have yet to revive any of the anonymous cryogenically frozen corpses which were obtained by AnabioSys, Inc from other bankrupted cryo-preservations companies. DNA analysis reveals that he is not Ted Williams, but Burt Kornburg, a baseball player from Pennsylvania, United States.	First Cetian sets foot on Earth. (nis’Hal’oth)

2077	CO2 levels retreat to levels not seen since the 1950s. Ice begins to reform in the Arctic and Antarctic.		SafeCorp is active in many of the world's combat theatres on one side or the other.
2078	The first “food replicators” become commercially available.
2079	Biological weapon Repnall is first detected in Uganda. One hundred thousand die in five days. No one claims responsibility.	Fourth War of African Unification begins.		Zoyu “sleeper ship” launched.	Pan-American and Pan-Asian alliances support opposite sides in the Fourth War of African Unification.
2080	Seismic activity increases in the Yellowstone basin. There is an increase in the emission of volcanic gasses. Warnings are issued, but are mostly ignored due to the false alarm 50 years prior.
2081	THE GREAT CRISIS BEGINS. Yellowstone Caldera erupts, triggering earthquakes. More than 40 cities in the US, Russia and China are affected by nuclear detonations or fall out.	THE GREAT CRISIS BEGINS. Yellowstone Caldera erupts causing accidental nuclear launch by Western American nuclear arsenal. Eastern powers retaliate.	The eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera triggers what is known as The Great Crisis. Many western states are partly or fully affected by the initial explosion and by the fall of ash. 40 U.S., Russian and Chinese cities are struck by nuclear missiles. The economy of the western U.S. is devastated and financial repercussions of this event are felt worldwide.		Continental United States devastated, physical connections between East and West are severed. Russia and China suffer severe casualties from nuclear strikes and fallout.
2082	Temperatures drop in the Northern Hemisphere due to the eruption and dust from the nuclear attack.	Combined Armed Services of the United States of America (CASUSA) invade Mexico and Central America.	Lab grown meat is approved for human consumption by the FDA of the United States.  Nirvana Farms in Texas and Freedom Foods in Vermont become the first companies to market lines of “cruelty-free” meat.	Cyberite Labs creates the first miniature fuel cell which can be safely implanted in the human body.	Asian countries engage in territorial disputes rooted in scarcity and radiation contamination.
2083	Repnall continues to decimate populations in Africa, a fast-replicating mutation travels faster through the air.		Despite heavy marketing campaigns “cruelty-free” meat is met with skepticism by the American consumer.	World Space Commission loses contact with Earth-based facilities.  WSC receives supplies and technical assistance from the Cetians.	Mexican Government collapses under pressure from American military (CASUSA).
2084	A strain of yellow fever breaks out in Brazil and spreads through South America. Average global temperatures rise due to the after effects of the eruption.	Fourth War of African Unification ends without a formal peace.	Australian astronaut James Vanderleeden is the recipient of the first dual limb cybernetic transplant made by Cyberite Labs. Freedom Foods gives away millions of free “cruelty-free” frankfurters at sporting venues in Boston, New York and Philadelphia as a ploy to get consumers to try lab grown meat.	Cetians and WSC scientists collaborate on containment methods of Repnall, and produce new medicines out of the Space Complex Romeo space station.	Cascadia founded in American Northwest. African nations are depopulated by war and Repnall, several become countries in name only.
2084	South American governments adopt extreme isolation protocols to prevent the spread of disease and biological weapons such as Repnall.	World-wide panic over the spread of Repnall  which is ravaging populations in Africa. Citizens of Canada riot for two days after it is believed a patient at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary died of Repnall. It is later determined that he died of a deadly strain of influenza.	“Cruelty-free” meat becomes more widely available in various food relief programs around the world. Nirvana Farms expands its line to add all-white meat chicken and lean ground beef to its products as well as expanding its market to the entire west coast of the United States. Freedom Foods expands into New England, but the south is dominated by SYMMeat, Inc which has lines of “exotic” meats such as buffalo, elk, deer and alligator as well as traditional meats.	Independent / pirate ‘Starweb’ networks sporadically transmit information in tri-vid format from enclaves in the United States, detailing the extreme level of suffering and lawlessness in the former United States.	Decapitated militaries establish fortified enclaves in the former United States, in Africa and Australia.
2085	Vaccines developed for a deadly outbreak of influenza (H4N6) in Hong Kong prove ineffective at keeping the new influenza virus at bay (H4N7) which spreads through the rest of Asia. Raising livestock by traditional methods becomes more costly and begins to decline. Some farms go out of business while others switch to the production of “cruelty-free” meat.	Chinese, Russian and American militaries use Repnall to depopulate rebel-held areas.	The physical infrastructure of cables, towers and satellites deteriorates, restricting the flow of information between nations.	Cetians and WSC scientists collaborate on radiation remediation, and develop new methods out of the Space Complex Romeo space station.	SafeCorp RP (Rescue and Pacification) Units take control of Western United States. There is widespread civil unrest and lawlessness among the greatly reduced American population.
2086	Repnall appears in Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, though no one claims responsibility for the attack. Analysts believe Repnall particles are airborne.	The terrorist group ‘Fiver Front’ claims responsibility for releasing Repnall in Tel Aviv, killing millions in days.	Fear of Repnall discourages travel and trade between nations and with those regions and countries affected as some governments have adopted strict isolationist policies.		Travel restrictions are common in many nations and corporate-held territories.
2087		SafeCorp and CASUSA fight a series of skirmishes and commando actions in the former Western United States.	Quality of life is at an all-time nadir in the former United States. Pockets of economic prosperity are protected by entrenched warlords.
2088		Mìngyùn Security Corporation seizes Central African countries to halt inter-tribal violence.
2089		Phrīḍama Protection Service is hired by a coalition of African states to remove Mìngyùn Security, resulting in a series of several dozen intense battles.
2090		Mìngyùn Security signs territory over to Phrīḍama, and is forced to pay punitive damages as part of a surrender and withdrawal agreement.
2091		SafeCorp and CASUSA each establish fortified enclaves against the other in the former Western United States.		World Space Commission uses space-based resources to reestablish com networks and physical communication with the national leaders.	Meetings of national, corporate and military delegates is referred to informally as a ‘world parliament’.
2092		Sontse Defense Organization, a powerful security contractor for the Governments of eight Eastern European countries, enforce border security with Russia.			3rd World Parliament rejects SafeCorp’s application to become a founding ‘member-state’ on the grounds that it is not a state, nor does it represent one.
2093		Sontse Defense establishes security zones in Russian territory, provoking sporadic military conflict.			In 2093 a federation of nations and national coalitions formally signs the Preservation Pact. Although there are only 71 signatories to this initial agreement, new nations, polities and regions apply for membership weekly.
2094					CASUSA Enclaves sign the Preservation Pact, and begin to reconstitute the United States with the help of the WSC.
2095			Corporations, States and the WSC race to develop a practical hyperdrive. Cornucopia Britannia, Inc. creates the first molecular re-sequencer which becomes popularly known as a food replicator. Food replicators can take any vegetable or protein to create nearly any raw food. Food replicators are first marketed to restaurants due to the high start-up costs of units.	Scientific data, schematics and astrometric information from the Cetians is leaked or stolen by Corporate interests.	The attempt to build a world government competes against corporate interests which  attempt to redefine nationhood as any incorporated interest of sufficient size and wealth.
2096					Indoctrination Center One is established in Norway.
2097	WSC is authorized by the 4th World Parliament to establish and manage a Reclamation Agency which develops and deploys technology to decontaminate irradiated, polluted or otherwise uninhabitable regions.		World Parliament Asteroid Mining Act is signed. Corporations race to exploit platinum and other rare minerals in Sol’s asteroid belt.	The Star Runner class of ship is developed by the WSC, with assistance from the Cetians. This ship is capable of blazing up to one or two light years at a time, in addition to traversing hyperspace pathways.
2098			VariCorp acquires Cornucopia Britannia, Inc. for 6 Trillion dollars.
2101			Republic Network News agency established to make radio, tri-vid, and starweb broadcasts to the entire globe, reconnecting isolated populations.		5th World Parliament creates the Earth Republic, an entity which exists to protect Earth, preserve its resources, and ensure justice for all people, everywhere.
2101			Food replicators begin to be made for home use. 5th World Parliament establishes the Versa as the currency of the Earth Republic.		Earth Republic establishes formal relations with Tau Ceti, an alien-inhabited world.
2102				Mars Colony established as a permanent mining settlement.
2103				World Parliament makes a provision for collective defense called the World Parliament Fleet. At this time the WPF consists of five hyperspace capable ships with minimal armament and defenses.
2104	“Smart Kitchens” provide food on demand with minimal instruction.		“smart kitchens” in development around the globe, which create whole meals begin to replace raw food replicators in commercial and home use.	The ERS Mithras (ship class: Star Runner) is built for routine hyperspace flights between Earth and Tau Ceti.
2104				ERS Mithras is lost in hyperspace.
2105			A proposal for a guaranteed minimum income for all citizens of the Earth Republic is debated by the World Parliament.	Gunship ship class is deployed to defend planets.
2106			Minimum income proposal is submitted for study by one of the World Parliament committees.	Intermix Reactor is developed by the Science Directorate at Munich.
2107			The economic impact of a guaranteed minimum income is determined to be less than the negative economic and social impact of permanent unemployment for a third of the adult population of the Earth Republic.
2108			The World Parliament drafts a proposal for a constitutional amendment which would guarantee a minimum income for all legal adult citizens of the Earth Republic.
2109			The proposed amendment goes through 17 revisions before it is then voted on.  The amendment fails to get the necessary votes.		World Parliament reorganizes the World Parliament Fleet and renames it the Star Navy. The Star Navy has the explicit mission to explore space and defend all the territories belonging to the Earth Republic.
2110	The mapping of the neural pathways of an entire living brain is now possible. These neural maps can be inscribed directly on thin slices of crystal in layers which, when supplied with electrical power can simulate a living brain. Programming can be integrated with these artificial brains making the first true AIs possible.			In the 2110s robots with AI and a personality are developed. There is something about the process of allowing intelligence to develop that makes each robot unique.
2111			The first artificial “brain” is created by Cyberite Labs, Incorporated	First true AI developed at Lab Four of the Science Directorate at Munich.
2112			A syncretistic, ecumenical movement, the World Church, is founded.	B4-SC, the first AI-enabled robot, is built for use in space exploration, reactor maintenance, and hazardous materials handling.
2113	The first SIMinal is developed by ARK Robotics. It is modeled on the president of the company’s German Shepard, Barney. ARK Robotics is eventually absorbed into Maxicorp.		ARK Robotics creates the first SIMinal	Escort ship class is deployed to protect trade.
2114			A petition with 11.2 million signatures of Earth Republic citizens, some of whom have never had gainful employment in their adult lives, is submitted to the World Parliament asking for another vote to be held on the proposed constitutional amendment which would guarantee a minimum income. A number of political and social leaders speak in favor of the proposed amendment, but it still fails to get the necessary votes.	Mars was first colonized in 2114 with the construction of underground tunnels which were dug with lasers into the Meridiani Planum in the Margaritifer Sinus region.
2115			ARK Robotics develops the first robotic pets, known as SIMinals. They are marketed as superior to “natural” pets as they are free of disease and are virtually immortal.	Sirius Orbital Colony established. More commonly called ‘Sirius Base.’
2116			Maxicorp releases SIMinals which mimic certain specific breeds of dogs and cats. An “exotic” SIMinal line is developed for birds, reptiles and monkeys.
2117			Peaceful protest petitions the World Parliament for a minimum guaranteed income.
2118			Maxicorp begins marketing its “wilderness” line of SIMinals which includes buffalo, sheep, goats, and horses.
2122		Intermix, Inc., a reactor development company, is accused of assassinating the CEO of Safecorp. Safecorp retaliates, and charges are brought against executives in both companies.	After protected legal wrangling and difficulties, a guaranteed minimum income is implemented for all Earth Republic Citizens upon reaching legal age.
2124				Star Destroyer ship class is deployed to project force throughout the Sol system and reinforce the authority of the Earth Republic. First Star destroyer: ERS Daimajin.
2125				“Frontier Command” Star Navy Base established at Kapteyn’s Star.
2125				Launch of the Eridanus, a colony ship sent to the Epsilon Eridani Star System.
2126				Colony ship Eridanus arrives at Epsilon Eridani.
2126				Eridanus City founded on the planet Eridanus in the Epsilon Eridanus star system.
2127			MaxiCorp founded, applies for membership to the World Parliament.
2128			MaxiCorp withdraws unsuccessful bid to join World Parliament. Enters expansionist period, purchasing territory and mining rights.
2129			Maxicorp purchases Stein 2051 system from the Earth Republic for an undisclosed amount.
