The ERS Hydra is a Daimajin-class Star Destroyer ship. It was the third Star Destroyer ever commissioned, launching after the ERS Daimajin and the ERS Valkyrie in the 2130s. Historically, it was captained for many years by Soren Kuromoto, until it was lost in 2150 at the start of the First Praezorian War. After its return from being lost in hyperspace for months, its entire bridge--who had been exposed directly to the hyperspace medium--had to be replaced.
It has a full complement of weapons (two lasers, two pulse cannons, and a missile launcher), and has a crew complement of one hundred souls. It has a full wing with six Apex Starfighters, called the Viper Wing.
The ERS Hydra is a public player ship; uniquely, it has the game's creator for its captain and features guest writers and experimental rules. As it is unpredictable and often written by veteran players, the Hydra is a hard-mode ship without a designated genre, though it tends to the strange more than it does dark, and its story is typified by a more episodic nature than other ships. Players looking for a challenge might enjoy the Hydra.
Duties[]
The Hydra does not have a regular patrol, as it is held in the Reserve Fleet. Like all ships in the Reserve, it is assigned to missions on an as-needed basis. Recent missions have involved dealing with hyperspace bees and service in the Liberators War. Recently, the Hydra has been part of the war effort in the Machine Sector, protecting the Tardek homeworld Itona from the Z and defending the line at Delta Pavonis. The Hydra was badly damaged on the eve of rhe surprise Z offensive on April 9th 2156, and this damage saved it from the disastrous fleet action that destroyed the ERS Fomorian and ERS Kraken. The Hydra was instead at Earth while the offensive took place, and helped to coordinate the ERSN's response.
