ERS Gryphon: "Servire et tueri"

The ERS Gryphon is a V-class ERSN police vessel, one of four such ships within the fleet. Like other police ships, it is outfitted quite differently from other V-class ships, and is not intended for battlefront engagements. Its special systems are a Harpoon Launcher and Killswitch, in order to better catch and control civilian vessels. It also possesses a separate Forensics Lab, an interrogation room and an altered brig (called Holding) for the accommodation of civilian prisoners and victims of crime. It has a crew complement of twenty souls, all specially trained in policing and forensics work. It has a Combat Shuttle and an Apex, named Eagle and Lion respectively.

The ERS Gryphon is obligated to uphold and fulfill Right of Passage and Habeas Corpus, though it can commission civilian vessels to help it uphold these responsibilities. It is technically part of a special division within the Star Navy, dedicated to police work and upholding the rights of Earth Republic citizens within and without Republic space. The Police Division has its own coordinating admiral, Admiral Star Honbashi.

The ERS Gryphon is assigned to the Pollux Corridor, starting at Sirius and leading up into the Praezorian Sector, to Pollux. Its duty is to protect the rights of human starfarers settling throughout the corridor, and to protect the Pollux Corridor Caravan, a group of ships making regular runs of supplies and people up and down the corridor. Its captain is Lieutenant-Commander Prim Theleon.

The ERS Gryphon is a currently-running player ship, operating from a private home in Santa Ana; in the past, it met at UC Irvine. It is a police procedural, featuring murder mysteries and crime drama. It maintains a utopian tone with high player agency, and avoids a list of agreed-upon Trigger Warnings. It uses its lead writer-generated police mod on top of the Starship Valkyrie 2.04 ruleset, the latter of which is highly de-emphasized.
